Jefferson County currently lists 900 Jefferson County Parkway for Human Services and says its buildings are closed Fridays; verify details before traveling.

Jefferson County helps with the eligibility case—not the dental network
Jefferson County Human Services administers public-assistance casework for residents, including Health First Colorado applications, renewals, requested documents, and reported changes. Its official Health First Colorado page currently directs people to PEAK for case or benefit updates and lists 303-271-1388 for Human Services. The page lists 900 Jefferson County Parkway in Golden and Monday-through-Thursday hours, with buildings closed Fridays. Check the live page before an in-person trip because hours and service methods can change.
For a dental provider, Dental Home, benefit summary, authorization, claim, or appointment assistance, contact DentaQuest. County staff can address active enrollment and case processing, but a county Medicaid record does not prove that a dentist is enrolled or that a procedure is payable. Ask the dental office about the clinical visit and scheduling. This division is especially important when a member has active coverage but cannot find an office: the next step is DentaQuest network assistance, not a new Medicaid application.
Use the home county even when the dentist is across the line
Jefferson County includes Lakewood, Wheat Ridge, Golden, Edgewater, most of Arvada, mountain communities, and unincorporated areas. Westminster and Arvada cross county boundaries, so a city name alone may not identify the office handling a Medicaid case. Use the county tied to the member's residential address. If PEAK shows an old address or the household recently moved, update the record and ask which county now owns the case before sending documents.
Dental network care is not restricted to the member's home county. A Jeffco member can search a practical radius that includes west Denver, Denver County, Adams County, Boulder County, or another reachable area. Confirm the exact dentist and service address in DentaQuest's directory and by phone. Crossing Sheridan Boulevard or another county line does not establish or remove network participation; the provider-location record and current plan status control.
- Search from the member's ZIP code, then expand toward realistic travel corridors rather than selecting a city name at random.
- For a mountain address, ask about winter travel time and whether an alternative location is more practical before booking.
- If a directory result names a group, call the individual location and confirm the treating dentist.
- Keep county case correspondence separate from dental treatment plans, DentaQuest notices, and office bills.
A five-part Jeffco provider confirmation
- 1
Health First Colorado is active
Check the member and date. If eligibility is missing or a renewal is unresolved, use PEAK and Jefferson County's official case-help channel.
- 2
The dentist and address are in network
Search DentaQuest and call. Network participation can be specific to the provider and service location.
- 3
The office schedules this patient and problem
State the age and whether the visit is routine, urgent, for dentures, accessibility-related, or another need. Ask about current openings and a cancellation list.
- 4
The proposed service is checked
After an examination, ask about procedure codes, frequency history, the adult July-to-June benefit limit when applicable, and prior authorization.
- 5
The trip is workable
Confirm parking, entrance, transit or ride eligibility, appointment length, return transportation, and weather backup before the visit.
Jeffco ride planning: MediDrive, RTD, and older-adult resources
Jefferson County is one of the nine counties on the current Health First Colorado MediDrive list. A qualifying member without transportation to covered care should request a routine trip at least two business days ahead under the live state instructions. Call 855-489-4999 with the member ID, date of birth, pickup address, exact dental office and phone, appointment time, mobility equipment, support-person need, and return-trip question.
Much of eastern Jefferson County is in the RTD service area, while foothill and mountain access differs by address. Use the current RTD planner rather than assuming a route. Access-a-Ride requires ADA eligibility and operates within its defined proximity to fixed routes; it is not countywide Medicaid transportation. Jeffco residents age 60 or older may also review DRCOG Choice Services, subject to program eligibility and capacity. For any option, confirm the exact destination and do not rely on a general statement that a service ‘covers Jeffco.’
An optional Denver office for a Jeffco search
Star Dental accepts Health First Colorado for adults and children at 1490 S. Sheridan Blvd., Unit 102, Denver, CO 80232. The office is in Denver County, not Jefferson County. It may be one practical option for some members who choose to include west or southwest Denver in their search, but this guide does not assume proximity from a Jefferson County address.
Call 303-222-1414 to confirm the member's age, visit type, current appointment availability, exact provider, accessibility or Spanish-language needs, and the proposed service. A practice's general Medicaid participation is not a guarantee of a slot or claim payment. Use DentaQuest to compare other network results, including offices within Jeffco.
Create one file for the case, dental plan, and ride
Keep three labeled groups. The eligibility group should contain county or PEAK notices, renewal dates, submitted documents, and confirmation numbers. The dental group should contain the member ID, directory results, appointment notes, treatment plan, authorization notices, explanation of benefits, and any bill. The transportation group should contain the trip number, pickup and return instructions, broker calls, and mileage form when applicable.
This simple separation makes problems easier to route. A missing renewal document goes to Jeffco or PEAK. A network or benefit question goes to DentaQuest. A treatment question goes to the dentist. A late driver goes to the ride provider. Preserve notice dates and act promptly when a document gives a response or appeal deadline.
