Important adult benefit update
The current standard adult dental limit is $3,000.
DentaQuest’s July 2026 materials set a $3,000 limit for each July 1–June 30 benefit year. Emergency treatment and covered removable dentures are excluded from that dollar limit, but frequency, clinical, and authorization rules still matter.
A quick orientation
Dental benefits are not one-size-fits-all.
Your age, specific program, active eligibility, treatment history, clinical need, and prior-authorization rules can all affect a benefit decision.
Current annual benefit limit
For standard adult Health First Colorado members per July–June benefit year. Emergency treatment and covered removable dentures are excluded from the dollar limit; other rules still apply.
See the guide →Ages 0–20EPSDTSeparate pediatric protections
Standard Health First Colorado coverage for members through age 20 has no annual dental dollar limit. Medical necessity, frequency, and authorization rules can still apply.

Call a dentist for urgent dental symptoms. Call 911 for trouble breathing or swallowing, serious facial trauma, uncontrolled bleeding, or rapidly spreading swelling.
See the guide →Its dental rules differ from standard children’s coverage. Beginning July 1, 2026, enrolled children ages 0–18 have a $1,100 annual dental limit; pregnant and postpartum members do not have that limit. Orthodontics is not covered under CAC.

Clear answers
Questions Denver patients ask first.
Does Colorado Medicaid cover dental care?+
Health First Colorado includes dental benefits for enrolled members. The exact benefit depends on age, program, service, clinical need, frequency rules, provider participation, and any authorization requirement.
How do I find a Denver dentist that accepts Medicaid?+
Start with DentaQuest’s official provider search, then call both the office and DentaQuest to confirm current network participation, the service you need, patient ages served, and new-patient availability.
Are covered dental services free?+
Covered Health First Colorado dental services have no member copay. That does not mean every service is covered. Ask about coverage and get a written disclosure before agreeing to pay for a non-covered service.
Do I apply separately for dental benefits?+
No separate dental application is required. Apply for Health First Colorado through the state. Dental benefits are included for eligible enrolled members.
Can Medicaid help me get to a dental appointment?+
Qualifying members without transportation may be eligible for non-emergency medical transportation to a covered dental appointment. Denver-metro rides are currently coordinated through MediDrive and should normally be scheduled at least two business days ahead.
